Ya’at’eeh! I am Lena FowlerI’m running for the Coconino County Board of Supervisors District 5 position because – like you – I believe our Coconino County government should ensure its services are fairly and equitably provided to all in Coconino County. I’m running for the Coconino County Board of Supervisors because I have the experience, qualifications, commitment and character to work for what I believe in. I stand for safe and healthy communities. I stand for strong and healthy local economies. I stand for the protection of our land and natural resources. All that can be achieved only if we have leaders who will balance our investments in economic development, human services and public safety. My Goals Are These- I believe in respect for individuals and the differences between us. I believe in values, and value the perspectives of each individual.
- I believe there is nothing more important than protecting our natural resources. I will work to protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, the beautiful starry nights, and to maintain the natural beauty of our area for the enjoyment of future generations.
- I believe in sustainable economic development that realizes the interconnectedness of the environment, the economy, and our community to broaden our tax base, provide good jobs and keep our people healthy.
- I believe in our quality of life and that the strength of our economy depends largely on our ability to get around. So I support the improvements of our roads.
- I believe in regional cooperation. Coconino County faces many challenges. Some are regional in nature and require regional solutions. In the spirit of cooperation, I will explore Intergovernmental Agreements to resolve some of these problems.

County Supervisor Louise Yellowman, Navajo Nation |

TUBA CITY, Ariz. – Retiring Coconino County Supervisor Louise Yellowman, Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley, Jr., and former Coconino County Sheriff Joe Richards have thrown their support behind Democrat Lena Fowler, candidate for Ms. Yellowman’s District 5 seat.
“She is observant and is a leader,” Ms Yellowman said Monday. “She is the only one that can continue the work that we have accomplished. She will add to our success. For this reason, I support Lena. I will vote for her and I encourage you to vote for her also.”
In a radio spot she recorded Monday, Ms. Yellowman said she has announced her plans to retire and that decision has concerned many of her constituents.
“But there’s a young lady whom I greet as my younger sister. Her name is Lena Fowler,” she said. “I have known her for the last 27 years, and she has been working on issues with the county all those years. What we have accomplished, she will carry it forth. She will add to it and improve it.”
This week, Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley, Jr., also urged voters to support Lena Fowler.
Calling her his “younger sister,” President Shirley said Ms. Fowler has worked on issues involving water, uranium clean-up, health care and higher education for the past 25 years.
“Without hesitation, vote for her and make her our supervisor,” he said in a Navajo language radio spot.
Lena brings the most experience and qualifications to the job, Sheriff Richards said. “The Navajo people are very fortunate she represents them.” ### |
